Named for the pirate who guarded this shore

Look through our window and there is a small island a short way offshore. It carries the name Bao.

George Bao was a pirate, and during the revolution of 1770 he defended Mykonos from the narrow passage between that island and this shore, taking enemy ships anchored in the channel. The island was given to him for it, and has been called after him ever since. A chapel of Saint George was built there in his memory.

We opened on that same waterfront in 2015, and took his name. Twelve years in Little Venice later, the bar still runs on the same idea he did. Stay close to the water, do it your own way, and make the evening worth remembering.

The compass in our mark is a nod to him. So is the fact that the best table in the house faces the sea, not the room.
